Online Therapy
Why teletherapy?
These are unprecedented and perhaps overwhelming times for all of us right now. We’re not interacting the way we’re used to with friends, colleagues and loved ones, some of us may be engaged in increased activism, while all of us are finding ourselves disrupted from our normal day-to-day routines. Teletherapy sessions, either over secure video or phone, from the comfort of your home, office, or another safe location, can streamline caring for yourself amidst all that is going on.
Does virtual therapy work as well as in-person therapy?
Yes! Recent studies have found that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy. Anecdotally, some clients report that virtual therapy is even more helpful with translating what is learned in therapy into the rest of life since they are doing the work right in their everyday context. Others report surprise at the level of connection that is still able to occur over video therapy. If you are experiencing “Zoom fatigue” in your life, we can discuss trying phone rather than video therapy.
I don’t live in California. Can I still work with you?
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT 121602) in the state of California and can see clients who are physically located in California when we meet. If you live outside the U.S. or are currently traveling outside of California, you can contact me so that we can look into whether your state or country permits online therapy with a provider outside your area.
How do you keep my health information secure?
I take your privacy seriously. All client records are stored in a cloud-based system with bank-level security that is HIPAA certified, encrypted, and kept secure in accordance with federal privacy standards for sensitive patient health information. For our communications, I offer secure messaging and secure video.
Do mind-body modalities like Brainspotting work as well online?
Yes! You might be surprised how well the focused mindfulness of Brainspotting and other cutting edge somatic approaches can work via video therapy or phone therapy. Set up a free 20-minute consultation to find out more for yourself.
